Starting in 2008, HZR has fielded VEX robotics teams and brought like-minded high school students together to compete in VEX competitions.
In 2018, 929U ranked 1st in their division and went on to be the first Hereford Robotics Team to win their division at the world championship and compete in the dome.
Almost every year, HZR has won invitations to the VEX Worlds Championship and Maryland State Competitions. Our teams have won a series of Excellence, Tournament Champion, Design, Robot Skill Champions, Finalist, Innovate, Think, and Sportsmanship awards across the years, and don't plan on stopping. HZR hosts 7-9 teams a year, with an average of 40 members across the teams, ranging from freshmen to seniors. We currently partner with the Hereford Zone Tech Boosters, from which all of our current funding originates.
Hereford Zone Robotics also hosts our annual Vex V5 & IQ Stampede, hosting over 50 teams as one of the largest state qualifying local events in the region, as well as supporting over 10 VIQRC teams a year, multiple which go on to compete at the world championship, such as 929V, whom recently placed 9th in their division overall!
Every year our alumni and student parents volunteer at competitions all over the state, helping support stem across not only our school zone, but across our event region.
929 Hosts our annual summer camp which you can sign up for here, helping develop younger students interest in stem and sparking interest in robotics at an early age.
Thank you to all parents, boosters club members, alumni and volunteers at our events for your dedication and support of our club!
Our Programs
At Hereford Middle, each year we support over 8 VIQRC teams, while also hosting our annual Hereford IQ Stampde
Since its inception, our middle school program sends multiple IQ teams each year to worlds, many whom are competitive at the world level
Our development of an IQ program helps students get involved in stem early, facilitating future careers in engineering and science from our area
At Hereford High School, we also host at least 6 teams each year, in which we send multiple to the state championship every year, and almost every year since our inception have sent teams to compete at the world championship
Whether these students began competing at the begining of middle school in our IQ program, or joining their junior or senior year of high-school, we give these students the opportunity to develop skills in CAD, Design, Programming and Teamwork.
